3 steps to get out of diamond or any other lower rank. These tips are crucial if you are seriously trying to improve and rank up.

Hello, my name is Fliplib and in my free time I use to coach rocket league players for more than a year now, and every time I make a replay analysis, I recognize the same pattern of wrong behaviour and mistakes that players often make. I’m pretty sure you might not have thought about these things before.

Step #1: Learn correct clears

This step is really simple but still its difficult since you will need to adjust your muscle memory. Now, the basic strategy of this is, that if you are in defense you generally want to avoid passing the ball to the oponents after you defend a shot from the opponent. If you are getting scored on a lot and you dont know why, this is probaly the reason. The correct way to do it is to play the ball into one of your corner.

If you already master this tip, the next thing you should focus on is playing the ball into a corner, where your teammate can get the next touch. If you don’t do this step correctly, you dont have to worry about this too much yet.

Step #2: Stop giving away posession

The mistake that people make here, is going for the ball even though no oponent is challenging the ball. In that case you need to be aware of the situation and go into a dribble instead of shooting the ball when not making a pass or taking a shot on the net. The main cause of this issue is hestitation as well.

Step #3: Getting comfortable on the wall

If you feel like you have mastered the ground play, your next goal should be to focus on getting more comfortable on the wall. The way that I mastered this skill is freeplay. Some people love spending hours in freeplay some people dont. But if you want to make progress you gotta train properly. For those that dont know what to do in freeplay, its really simple:

Hit the ball as hard as you can, and if the ball is bouncing or is somewhere in the air, drive up and jump off the wall and try to hit the ball. If you get more consistant with that, try to focus on hitting the ball on a target.
